Esca lure lights - MS102B

Esca lure lights weigh 9 grams. They can be used by themselves as a small jig, though they are  Esca unit best used together with spinners, jigs and bait, or in combination with Esca accessories such as shrimp and squid.

You can combine the Esca light unit with other items of fishing tackle in a number of different ways. Here are a few tips based on experience.

Esca on pilkIf trolling or jigging from a boat, we recommend attaching the Esca unit between the jig and the hook

If casting from land or a boat, we recommend attaching the Esca unit between the jig and the swivel.

Esca and tuna
You can also attach the light unit directly in front of the jig. You then attach the swivel in front of the light unit and use the split ring to connect the light unit and the jig. This method can also be used when trolling using a jig or a wobbler. In Mozambique anglers have landed a lot of fish using this wobbler and the Esca light unit combination: rapala and Esca

You can also combine an Esca unit with a spinner, by attaching the light unit to either the top or bottom split ring, or you can choose to use the light unit with or without a hook. We have had a lot of success with attaching the light unit to the top of the spinner without using a separate treble hook. The light unit then acts as a lure light, so it looks like the jig has caught a prey that is emitting light.

You can also use the Esca unit as a hanger, with or without an Esca shrimp or an Esca squid. We have had a lot of positive reports that the Esca unit is extremely effective when combined with bait. The lure light attracts the interest of the fish, which then finds the bait a lot more easily.

Esca tackleWhat is special about the lure light is that the light is emitted in all directions, whereas the smell of the bait spreads out only in the direction in which the water is flowing. As a result we have had very good results from attaching the Esca unit in front of each hook when fishing with a line or a long line – so we can definitely recommend combining Esca with a spinner and bait (mackerel fillet, shrimp, etc.)

The colors blue and green are very specific light wavelengths that simulate lure lights used by marine organisms. Blue light is the color most commonly used by marine organisms in their light organs. It is also the wavelength that penetrates deepest and furthest in water. In shallower waters containing more particles and algae, green light is more often used, though this varies from season to season and place to place. We recommend therefore that you figure out what works best in your favorite fishing spots.
